What is cosmobiology?

✨ Cosmobiology is a branch of astrology created in Germany in the 1940s by Reinhold Ebertin. It is still seen as one of the most revolutionary systems in astrology.

🧠 Cosmobiology is considered a very structured form of astrology. It gives very detailed and precise interpretation of any birth chart.

✨ Along with the traditional birth chart, it uses the 90° dial - a special graphic way of showing the horoscope.

✨ The focus is on planets and the aspects (angles) between them. In fact, cosmobiology is really about becoming a master at interpreting the planets themselves.

✨ Astrological houses are irrelevant here.

✨ Cosmobiology by default uses the tropical zodiac. It is mainly used for the mathematical conversion of a chart to the 90° dial. In further interpretation, the zodiac plays a secondary role and can be disregarded. There's also a posibillity to use the sidereal zodiac.

✨ It uses some different aspects than traditional astrology: conjunctions (0°), squares (90°), oppositions (180°), semi-squares (45°), and sesqui-squares (135°). Trines (120°) and (sextiles 60°) are rarely considered.

✨ It also looks at midpoints (planetary pictures) - mathematical points between two planets that give very detailed insights into the chart. Each planet can aspect them and give 858 individual combinations in total (when we use 10 planets, Asc, Mc and Lunar North Node). Only some of them are active in a birth chart, making each of us so very unique!

Below is an example. Between Venus and Pluto lies their common midpoint. The Moon forms an opposition to that point.

This configuration is written as: Moon = Venus/Pluto.

According to Ebertin, this combination means: "An overly intense emotional life, strong procreative power. Motherhood."

🧬 Ebertin also worked with statistics and believed they proved that astrology makes sense. However, he said that the stars are only one factor in a person’s life. To be a good astrologer, one also needs to study psychology, statistics, medicine and environmental conditions.
